Fundraiser Opportunities
- Consider your own activities. Are you involved in groups outside Avon?
- Ask you family and friends. Ask those you know to list the groups they are involved in, as well as those of their children, spouses and friends.
- Read the newspaper. The local paper will have articles on many fundraising efforts within a community. For example, heart and liver transplant patients need funds to pay for medical bills or local groups that need to raise money for a monument, or bands needing money for trips.
- Watch community bulletin boards for announcements of groups doing fundraising projects. For example, church dinners, garage sales with proceeds going to an organization, charity dances, neighborhood carnivals, and volunteer fire departments.
- Listen to community programs on local radio/TV stations for mention of groups needing funds or contact the Community Affairs Department of local radio/TV stations and ask who has been looking for ways to raise money.
- Take note of the kids selling door-to-door items for their groups. Get the information from the student. Also, pay attention to friends selling products for their children's groups, car washes held by students and roadblocks requesting donation.
- Contact the local Chamber of Commerce to see if they publish a listing of non-profit clubs and organization in your area.
